About the Garden

Located on the site of the former Cymmer Comprehensive School Garden, our community garden serves the village of Cymmer and surrounding areas in the Upper Afan Valley. We provide opportunities to grow vegetables, flowers, and enjoy a peaceful environment to relax and connect with nature.

As a charitable incorporated organisation (CIO), we rely on community support to maintain our garden, purchase tools and plants, and develop accessible features like raised beds.

Local donations help us:

  • Purchase seeds, plants, and compost
  • Develop accessible raised beds for disabled visitors
  • Run community events and workshops
  • Provide vegetables and flowers to the local food bank

Community Planting Day

Saturday 15th June, 10am–2pm

Join us for a morning of planting summer vegetables and flowers. All tools and guidance provided. Refreshments available.

Wednesday 26th June, 10am–12pm

Special session for families with young children. Seed planting, bug hunting, and nature crafts. Booking recommended.

Harvest festival with baskets of fresh vegetables

Summer Harvest Festival

Saturday 10th August, 11am–3pm

Celebrate our summer harvest with garden tours, produce sharing, and community picnic. All welcome.
